Scott is a Founding Partner at Progressive Barristers.
A prairie transplant in Toronto, Scott takes a thoughtful but pragmatic, results-oriented approach to the practice of all areas of family and child protection law.
Scott holds a degree in political science and philosophy from Simon Fraser University. He received his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Law before undertaking graduate work at Osgoode Hall Law School. Scott completed extensive clinical training while at law school and served as a research assistant to both the Law Society of Saskatchewan Libraries and the Ariel F. Sallows Chair in Human Rights.
Scott began his career as a legal aid clinic lawyer serving some of Toronto’s highest needs communities before practicing at a leading family law litigation boutique. He has represented clients before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, various administrative tribunals, and has participated in applications for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada.
While he practices in all areas of family and child protection law, Scott has unique expertise in the intersection of family, constitutional, and Indigenous law. In addition to his individual clients, Scott has had the privilege of representing First Nations bands in child protection matters concerning Indigenous children.
Scott is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History. He is involved in the community and formerly sat on the Board of Directors for South Etobicoke Community Legal Services.
